Caring for someone with dementia at home is a difficult job that, while rewarding, can become overwhelming at times. As a caregiver, each day brings new challenges and opportunities as you cope with the changing behaviors and levels of ability of the person with dementia. Taking care of yourself as a caregiver and gaining more knowledge about dementia, with help you be able to take better care of your loved on with dementia.
NEI3A is here to help you. Below are some of the resources we offer:
• Information and referral for Family Caregivers-General information on Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia’s
• Caregiver information packets-Detailed information about Alzheimer's disease as well as other types of dementia and how the disease progresses.
• Family-Care-Consultations with caregivers of persons with dementia - Face to face meetings with caregivers-issues; progression of disease communication, behaviors, activities, safety, planning ahead. In home or at the Area Agency.
• Community Education for Family Caregivers - Regular monthly meeting of “Let’s Start The Conversation” along with other scheduled informational meetings on dementia
• Respite Funding - For care-partner of person with dementia/may include Home Health Agency or Adult Day Center-Limited to $250 every 12 months.
• Alarms (chair and door alarms)
• Lending Library (books on caregiving and DVD’s)
